Nick Murway Backpack 2019

1) Aer Flight Pack 2 - I'm obsessed with this backpack. I'm always looking for the *perfect* backpack and this is about as close as I've come. It's totally meant to be an everyday carry/work backpack and not a weekend get away type deal but that's what I needed. I love that it has a luggage pass-through so it can slip onto your suitcase, an organization compartment, and can be configured into a few different set ups. Love it.

2) Sony RX 100 II - I've been carrying this little guy around for a few months now and I totally dig it. My previous EDC camera was a Fuji x100s which I do miss, for sure, but love how much smaller this camera is. I can stick it in my jacket pocket, or wear it around my neck and sort of forget about it.

3) Contigo Stainless Steel Water Bottle - I typically like to have a Nalgene with me (and I'll throw an empty one in my suitcase) because it's marked with measurements up to 32oz, which satisfies my obsessive tendencies but this little Contigo fits into the expandable side pocket on the backpack.

4) LaCie Rugged Thunderbolt 2TB - I love these things. I keep each year's photo archive on one, with my Lightroom Catalog, so I can work wherever. I use Carbon Copy Cloner to create an identical backup that stays in the office.

5) Passport - Always good to have with ya.

6) Mack's Pillow Soft Silicone Earplugs - I love having these on hand and they're surprisingly comfy. Little bonus, you can reuse them a couple of times.

7) ThinkTank Photo Red Whips - I like ThinkTanks products a lot. These came with a backpack or one of the cable management bags I have. I like to keep a few on hand to tidy up any misc. cables.

8) Due North Foot Rubz Foot Hand & Back Massage Ball - Another fav in the bag. My shoulder is fairly messed up after breaking the same collarbone twice, so I like to roll out those muscles with this little guy. Apparently rolling out your feet, which I do here and there, potentially helps a whole handful of things.

9) A Ginger and Turmeric Tea Bag - I’ve become fairly obsessed with having a cup of ginger turmeric tea everyday. Sometimes I’ll just chop up fresh ginger, bring it to a boil, and let it steep for 15 minutes or so. I really like Rishi’s Ginger Turmeric loose leaf as well.

10) Apple Lightning Cable - Just an extra one I stashed in the bag.

11) Multi USB Cable - This thing is really cool. I can pretty much charge anything with this and it’s great to have on hand if say, someone (like my brother) with an Android phone needs a charge but you typically only have your iPhone charger.

12) Omars Battery Pack Power Bank 10000mAh USB C - I actually just picked this up while in Ohio for Thanksgiving, so I can’t totally vouch for it, but it seems cool. I really like how slim it is.

13) Mini Altoids, Burt’s Bees Vanilla Lip Balm, a Microfiber cloth, and a Zeiss Lens Wipe (I really, really love those - I keep one or two in every bag I carry).

14) AmazonBasics Classic Grid Notebook - I tend to beat up notebooks pretty badly, spilling coffee, wine, etc. so I don’t like to spend a whole lot on them. I prefer gridded notebooks as well. I journal in this, take notes during calls, and pretty much everything else you could think of.

15) Apple AirPods 2 - Shout out Saiba for the birthday gift! I’ve only had these for a bit, but I love them very much. I don’t get all that hyped for Apple products anymore but gosh, they nailed these. When my brother first convinced me to get a pair of bluetooth headphones (with the little cable) to workout with, I sent him a text five minutes into the run being like “What took me so long?? Game changer!” and I feel the same way with these.

16) 13” Macbook Pro - I’m going have to upgrade soon-ish and I’m thinking about bumping up to the 15” in Space Grey, which is v pretty!

17) A Sharpie Twin Tip Fine Point and Ultra Fine Point, a PILOT G2 1.0mm (my fav pen), and some notecards which I like for jotting down to-do lists, sketching out idea, using them as bookmarks, etc.

18) Apple Magic Mouse 2 - Comes in handy for retouching.

19) I like to always have a paper book with me. I still haven’t converted to a Kindle guy, though I’m always tempted and continue to try. I tried Audible, and while it’s weird because I listen to so many podcasts, I couldn’t get into the whole audio book thing, as much as I love the idea of being able to knock out a long Zone 2 workout while listening to a book. This happens to be Mapping the Heavens by Priyamvada Natarajan which I’m enjoying.

20) I have this neck scarf thing I keep in the bag. I originally bought it for cycling, but I’ve found you can use it as an eye mask for sleeping or around your ears if you get cold on say, an airplane (me last week).
